2020 Hindsight: I Miss Softball

The 123rd day was a beautiful weather day.  And, all day on 5/2/2020, I could not help but think about where we should have been.  Today was supposed to be the Palmyra Softball Tournament.  This event (and I think the whole season) has been cancelled.  I was so looking forward to watching Alexa's Senior Softball season.  Seeing the team in pregame, I think it really had a chance to so well.  And Alexa was only 29 hits away from 100 with a 25-game season planned.  It was well within her reach to get to that milestone and get her name on that banner.  But it is not to be.  Now I do know, in the grand scheme of things, the loss of the Spring Softball season, and even the other Senior events (awards ceremonies, lunches, celebrations) is not that big of a deal.  What is important is that we all stay healthy and that we "flatten the curve" so this pandemic can end (someday).  But my 2020 Hindsight is still that I Miss Softball.  Not just HS, but the Mustangs as well.  I feel like the last hurrahs have been robbed from Alexa and I feel robbed as well.  I am glad that, when we look back in 2030, we will be glad that we stayed inside and that we are still healthy and well.  But, in the here and now, I have to admit, I am a little (OK, a lot) sad about the loss of Spring 2020 Softball.  Stay inside everyone - we need this to end as soon as possible!
