2020 Hindsight: 50 Years of Penn Band Women

Today is the 20th day of 2020.  And, on 9/26/2020, I am thinking about the 269th day (no Leap Year) of 1970.  That is because, 50 years ago today, at the Penn vs Lehigh Football Game in Franklin Field, women marched on to the field with the Penn Band for the first time.  And, today, the Band is kicking off a year long celebration of women in the Penn Band.  It's going to be an amazing celebration and I am only sad that we could not kick it off in person, at FF, as originally planned.  I, of course, have an affinity to a few women in the Penn Band, being married to one and being the father of one of the newest women in the Penn Band.  So, fittingly, my 2020 Hindsight tonight is 50 Years of Penn Band Women.  Here's to ALL of the trailblazers from 1970, my good friend Marianne, the first Female Drum Major (first of MANY), and those Penn Band Women who are in leadership and in the membership of the Band today.  Glad to have marched with many of them and excited for the year of celebration!
